I think you should able to do the mapping through crm relationship.
Yes, you can send email without exchange server. you can setup CRM to
send it out using default SMTP.

I want when i promote a lead to an oppurtunity to have the same fields
mapped (eg Lead.Name - Oppurtunity.Name etc) the oppurtunity to get the same
information stored in the lead.
The same thing i want to make it for the contacts. How is that possible?
Also one more question. If i am using crm without exchange server, is it
easy to send e-mail (for instance after the creation of a contact) using an
external mail server?
