We identify our lead source when importing leads. We are hoping that this
can help us identify the more profitable trade shows we attend. The problem
is that Lead Source field doesnt move through to the Opportunity. Is this by
design? Is it something my implementation partner overlooked? Can I make it
continue though to the opportunities?

You can create a mapping between the lead and a contact or opportunity (or
both) in the Deployment Manager (DM) on your CRM server. Open the DM and
click on the lead entity in the schema. Under the Lead entity is a "Mappings"
node. Double-clicking this will open a window that lets you create mappings
from the leadsourcecodename to a field of your choice on the opportunity
entity.

This information will be passed from a lead to an opportunity only at the
time that the lead is converted to an opportunity.
