Hi,

Anyone tried to install CRM in load balancing?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Well, I guest all services needed for CRM to work.

I guest it's not much of a problem for SQL service (except I'm not sure the
subscriptions would work properly if SQL server 1 would fail)

I heard you can't load balance the Exchange Email Router

And what about Crystal Reports ? I think you need to use a dedicated Crystal
reports server to have Crystal reports load balancing!

The only document available in ParnerSource (ID 31959) about load balancing
tells to split all traffic in 2 or more CRM server.

I was just wondering if someone has tried to implement a "load balancing"
solution.

Thanks.

I think you mean Clustering (shared storage) not load balancing. In which
case:-

1. Clustered SQL Server 2000 will definitely *not* work with Sales for
Outlook clients,
2. Clustered SQL Server 2000 works with web clients - but is not supported
3. Clustered Exchange 2000 or 2003 is not supported, but can be made to work
(search this newsgroup)
4. Exchange front end server network load balancing is not clustering, but
email router does work in that scenario (I've done it)
5. I do not know about load balancing a CRM server, or what that actually
means

Load Balancing the Microsoft CRM Server is not currently
possible.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your response.

I guest it a combination of both technology. I was just wondering if it was
possible. I have a conference call tomorrow with a new customer interested
in CRM. I just wanted to know if it was possible to have some work around
since I already saw in PartnerSource that Load Balancing and clustering were
not supported for CRM.

Thanks for your incomes.

Sebastien

not exacly what you want but keep in mind you can have multiple CRM web
servers accessing the same database so you could split your users between
multple CRM web servers. These servers would be accessing the same database.

also not it is possible to use some cisco hardware to determine which web
server to send the request to.

Hello,

We have Clustered SQL Server 2000 and it works fine with Sales for
Outlook Clients (about 350 clients). It took just a little tweaking
that I got from this news group.

Sorry Sebastien, I did not know there was a tweak. However, as it is not
supported, your client may consider waiting for release of CRM Version 2 ,
which is due to have scalability enhancements - and those may include
support for SQL clustering

Hi Steve,

Were you also able to make Email Router works in a cluster environment?

Thanks.
