Login required to access Crystal
Posted by Kevin D on April 19th, 2005

The first time we open Crystal Reports during a session, the login dialog is
appearing. All of our browsers are configured for Integrated Windows
Authentication, leaving me confused to the need to log in again.

The problem happens for both WinXP machines that are logged onto the CRM
domain, and Win2k that do not belong to the domain (but are on the same
network).

Furthermore, I was under the impression that Integrated Authentication would
negate the need for a user to specify their logon creditentials if they are
logged onto the domain. It is not the case for our XP machines that log
into the domain at startup.

Is this the intended behavior, or can a configuration change be made?

Hi Kevin,

I found that by adding all CRM related sites (if you maybe have a
custom site or reporting services linked to CRM, etc) to the list of
trusted sites in internet explorer security you do not get login
screens. Of course your trusted security settings must be set to
automatically login using current username and password, but by default
it is. I also found by searching the registry for a site that was added
to this zone, and then exporting that part of the registry
(HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Internet
Settings\ZoneMap\Domains), and then editing the reg file to remove any
unnecessary key settings, you can create a .reg file to send to all
users, and all they have to do is open it and click ok twice to add the
neccesary sites to their trusted site list, of course modifying the
registry has got associated risks, so make sure you know what you are
doing and test it properly first.

Rex -

Thanks for the tip. It worked like a charm.

We're still small enough that it's quicker to change each computer myself,
rather than the registry bit -- but will keep it in mind for future
deployments.
