Mail Merge from Marketinglist in MS CRM
Posted by Charlotte on September 11th, 2006

Hi there,

Using MS CRM Marketing lists (under Marketing), I wonder how to make a mail
merge from there.
In our system, I miss "More actions" - Mail Merge (that can be used under
"Advanced find").
Is it only missing on our system, or how do you make a mail merge campaign
on behalf of a Marketing list?

Hi Charlotte,
Mail merge can be done only via the outlook client.
Marketing lists are just the base for either quick campaign or full
campaign. So you'd have to use one of those two to generate mail merge data
for your marketing list.
to use it as a quick campaign -
* Open Outlook Client
* Select the marketing list/open the marketing list
* Click on "Create a Quick Campaign" button (in the toolbar or on the form)
* Walk through the wizard and select the mail merge option you want to use

Mail merge can be used in the Full Campaign as well - through campaign
activity. Which option to choose depends on your business needs. Full
campaigns are typically large campaigns that need extensive tracking, ROI
calculation, etc. Quick campaigns could be used for bulk generation of
activities for using internally within your team (assigning multiple phone
call activities based on a marketing list to different salespeople) or
externally (sending an e-mail newsletter mail merge to the customers on the
marketing list)...

Hope this helps.
