Microsoft CRM 4.0 Web UI
Posted by ianr@matrix247.com on March 17th, 2008

Hi all,

I'm a newbe to CRM 4.0 and I need some help with branding the UI of
the web client please........

I understand the basic's of sitemap & isv but I cannot find where /
how I change the 'Microsoft CRM title bar' (the one that sits at the
top of the web client in crm 4.0 that displays 'Microsoft CRM + logo'
on the left and the username etc on the right).

Does anyone know how to change this. I want to put my company logo in
here.......any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Cheers
Ian.

Have a look at this guys blog:

http://blogs.msdn.com/cesardelatorre...4-0-titan.aspx

This isn't a customization supported by Microsoft etc...

You don't need to change the ISV, just replace the main microsoft
graphic, making sure its the same height and width.

You have given me a great idea to incorporate our company logo onto CRM UI.
However I have a few questions before i pitch this idea to my boss:
1. Is this a personalization or customization?

2. How much time would this entail? We pay a consultant fee for any
personalizations/customizations and would like to get a genearl idea on
billable time.

3. Does this personalization/customization only apply to web client? or
will this also apply to the Outlook client (we run both clients company-wide)

4. Please provide reasons as to why a company would want to do this?

Thank you for your time and I look forward to your responses.

Denise,

Its changing a graphic - I'm not sure which category it falls into in
corporate terms ;-)
I guess its customization - personalization would be when each user
gets to choose their layout preferences, start page etc.

Depends on your inhouse graphic skills and level of professionalism
required - it is essentially just painting your logo on a graphics
banner, so 30 minute task for a pro?

I think this will only show on the web client, the banner doesn't show
up in outlook.

We use it for Corporate Branding so our salespeople buyin as the
organisation's CRM

*Be aware- as Cesar states in his blog, future updates/rollouts could
overwrite any files you customize.

I believe the font is Segoe - this is one of Microsoft's new default
fonts in Vista and Office 2007.
If you don't have the above products, you may be able to find this
font for download on the web.

If you can't find it - apparently, you can also get it by installing
Microsoft's Live Mail - http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview.

Hi,

I tried to do according to the first instruction:
1.-
The image file is located in the following place:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft CRM Server\CRMWeb\_imgs\masthead.jpg
You could copy another image with the same name within that folder.

But I don't get it to work even though I have restarted the application and
the IIS. Can someone please help me?

Another FYI, for our installation it turned up to be in C:\Inetpub
\wwwroot\_imgs\masthead.jpg
