Microsoft CRM Sales for Outlook install error
Posted by Graeme McInteer on July 12th, 2005

When trying to install the Microsoft CRM Sales for Outlook software I'm
getting the error "The specified user record does not exist on the Microsoft
DRM installation specified."

Yet on the same PC we can load the web base CRM software successfully using
the same user Id that is trying to installed the outlook software (i.e. The
user record does exist)?

Can anyone please help.

Cheers
Graeme

It sounds like the Sales Outlook Client is already installed under another
profile on the machine.

You will need to uninstall it.

On Outlook 2003 and client 1.2 you can reuse the databases created under MSDE.
If not you may need to remove them and have them recreated.

You can only remove the other install under the profile where it is installed.

If you reduced their local rights, you need to bump them up.
Hope this helps.

Hi Graeme,

I've experienced some strange behaviours with the Sales For Outlook client
related to multiple credentials on Windows XP clients. I could log on using
the browser client, but not when using the SFO-client. I found out it had to
do with multiple credentials stored on the client.

Try to check your user credentials. There might be stored multiple
credentials on the user in question.

Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Advanced -> Manage Passwords (remove
credential duplets, if any, and try to install again)

Remember: you can only have SFO installed for one user per machine.

Kind regards,
