Same error here. Does Microsoft test this stuff?!!

ACTION:

Installing CRM 4.0 server



RESULT:

The setup failed with the following error:

Install exception.System.Exception: Action
Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Server.ProvisionBusinessAction failed. --->
Microsoft.Crm.CrmException: The domain logon for this user is invalid:
(DOMAIN.UK\myaccount) Select another domain logon and try again.



CAUSE:

The domain name of the logged user contains a period (.)



RESOLUTION:

1) Open RegEdit on the CRM server
2) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRM. This hive may
not exist, so you may need to add it.

Note: If the registry subkey does not exist, follow these steps:

a. Locate and then click to select the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft
b. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.
c. Type MSCRM , and then press ENTER.

3) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRM
4) Add a Dword registry called “VerifyDomainName” with a value of 1.
