- Move database - Error in Deployment Manager urgent help!!
- Posted by Affy on January 29th, 2008
Hi,
I happen to follow the knowledge base article 917948 for moving the SQL
Server database for SQL Server 2005 in the same domain.
I was able to point System DSN step(took Full backup and restored) as well
to the new sql server. But when I try to configure the Microsoft Deployment
manager step with the new server name, it gives a message saying "No
Microsoft CRM databases were found on this server".
After half a day's of struggle, I figure out that in SQL error Log there is
an error message saying "Login failed for user 'Domain\Administrator' Client:
[IP Address]". I have given full access to the CRM databases for this user ,
but still i get that same error in deployment manager!
I am surprised that System DSN is working but not SQL Server access with
administrator user credentials.
Can anybody help as its quite urgent!!

Did you name the databases exactly as they were before when you restored?

Yes Robert. It has been named perfectly as it is.
I was able to succesfully restore it but the Deployment manager is giving
issues. Please let me know how to get over this issue.
Thanks

You aren't trying to change versions? I mean you are going MSCRM 3.0 to
MSCRM 3.0?
Also whats in the log files for MSCRM?

Hi Robert,
I am just moving the database from one server to another server and both
versions are SQL Server 2005.
Do you mean the SQL error log which I have mentioned or are you asking me to
check MS CRM log files? If yes, where can i find it.
Thanks
Aftab
