MS CRM - Has any one tested with SQL Cluster and Exchange Cluster
Posted by Subramanian on October 6th, 2003

Hi!

We are also trying to use MS CRM using our existing SQL
Server Cluster and Exchange Server Cluster. We are told
by the MS Reseller that this configuration will not work
and insists that we need to buy additional licenses of
SQL / Exchange and also host them in separate boxes. We
are in a fix as we have a disaster recovery site!! I have
also been told that MS CRM does not work with named sql
server instance!!!!! If you have been successful, please
let us know. It will be useful for us.

Thanks in Advance

thx

Thanks for your reply. We have a SQL Cluster. When the
reseller inspected our setup, they want us to buy
additional boxes for hosting SQL Servers and say that MS
CRM will not work with named instances. Their Mail
message is as follows:

"I am worried there is a bit of a mis-communication
here...Microsoft CRM does not support a connection to SQL
in a Cluster Environment or to a SQL Server named
instance.

Unfortunately, we cannot use your existing Clustered SQL
servers to reduce costs because it is not supported.
Additionally, we have tried to install to a SQL named
instance, which is also how your servers are configured,
and we can confirm that it does not work.
"

Can you comment on the above? Also, if you could provide
me a general configuration and / or changes required in
the existing clustered environment it would help us a
great deal.

Thank you for your time.

Regards
Mani
