Posted by Espen on June 13th, 2005

Hello
I have one new customer and he want to use MS CRM but right now he has UNIX
based system in use so i need your help or tips to make some deal with him. I
have not any experience for UNIX. What kind of changes, he needs to make in
his hardware or in system to use MS CRM? Is there any article for this kind
of solution?

Thanks in advance

Hi Espen

Sorry if I am stating the obvious, but the prospective customer would need
to meet all of the requirements outlined in Chapter 6 of the Implementation
Guide.

Regards

He needs to install a full Windows server domain; Windows Server, Active
Directory, SQL Server, Exchange Server.
If the customer is small then consider Windows Small Business Server 2003
Premium Edition

The Microsoft CRM implementation Guide - it is on CD3 of the Microsoft CRM
disk set

If they are currently a unix based organisation then your major
problem is that you will be forcing too many technology and culture
changes to realistically get any buy in from the end users. In any
unix based organisation you will also face the problem that microsoft
will not be regarded as reliable or trustworthy and then trying to
implement a platform which is still in an early stage of development.

It may work but you're not doing yourself or your customer any favours
by forcing that much change in one step.
