Multiple instances of Dynamics CRM 4.0 on one domain
Posted by Chris on June 30th, 2008

Hi,

Does anybody know if this is possible. We had CRM installed on one
server on the network and then attempted to install another instaance
on a Virtual Server, but on the same domain. both connecting to their
own local SQL Server DBs).

The version on the Virtual Server works OK but now the original
version doesn't work. If you try to browse it as any user you get the
message:

Access Error

The system could not log you on. This could be because your user
record or business unit
you belong to has been disabled

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Is the virtual server installed on the same server as the 1st
installation of CRM? It sounds like you might have had a change to
IIS when you performed the virtual server installation. Have you
tried using local host or the ip address as the host name from the
server where CRM is installed? Does the same error result?

I think this problem like the discussion at
http://www.exforsys.com/forum/micros...-business.html
and the problem may come from authentication between AD and identity in CRM
database. Please turn on Developer error mode in CRM and show the error
detail.

OK, I've found the problem. The Administrator account in the
<organisation>_MSCRM database had somehow been marked as disabled in
the dbo.SystemUserBase table. Whether this was updated incorrectly
when I installed the 2nd instance of CRM. Probably never know but I'm
just glad the problem's fixed.
