- My postings are gone!!!

Season's greetings everyone!
I posted a question entitled "Automating Account Number" back in Sep 2004,
which was replied. I didn't have time to implement the instruction as it's
rather complex. My plan was to deal with it a bit later, i.e. now. But I
can't find the posting any more! (I saved the email notifications that
contained link to the newsgroup) I tried couple of other notifications that
were the same: gone.
Can anyone explain why this is happening? And anyone by any chance can help
me out again?
Much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi Tony -
I noticed that a lot of the older posts are still archived on the MBS
site... I'm sorry - but I can't remember the direct link - but it had to do
with messageboards/or community.... its the same thing as these posts here -
but on the MBS site... sorry for the vagueness =)
Kristina
PS
I want to go find that too now! I wrote a little external app that will
generate account #s for us - but the user has to copy/paste it into the
account and save it.

MS has cut back drastically on the amount of history they maintain on the
newsgroups. I'd recommend trying to search via Google on the group as it has a
longer history.

Thank you Kristina and Matt.
I don't blame MS for clearing space, though the puzzle is this clearance
seems to be rather selective, i.e. based on some criteria other than time
stamp. I could still view the threads dated back to May/June last year, and
my postings were only around Sept/Oct. Seems such is life, just have to take
it and move on.
Matt, are you able to answer the question though? The oringinal answer was
by a regular MVP, could even have been you. My hopes are high.
Thanks to you both again.

Tony,
Sorry, thought you were just asking about the history being missing :-).
The only way to auto-incrememnt something like the Account Numberis to implement
a post-Callout. This would need to fire o nthe Create event and calculate the
"next" value and update the record. There is info on postCallouts in the SDK:

Thanks Matt. I'll try that.
Hope this would be rectified in new release.
