All
Just received the new sales for outlook client. Dated June 2003. No idea
what the new one does yet.

Remove the old one from all of your client machines as it is no longer

Install the new Sales for Outlook on all of your client machines.
The new one de-couples the installation of the Outlook add-on and the
MSDE. An updated MSDE, version with SP3a, is installed. You may be aware
that the old Sales for CRM could not be patched with SP3. The de-coupling
of MSDE will also allow for easier upgrading of the MSDE itself whenever
patches need to be applied to the MSDE.

Get out from under Microsoft's thumb...give'em the finger...use Linux.

Eeek!!!
Please excuse my sig on the previous post. I think Microsoft really has
something here with this product. From a technical standpoint, Outlook
2002 with enough patches performs fairly well (still locks up while
sending and receiving mail), but users love Outlook. The fact that
Microsoft CRM bolts onto Outlook and integrates into a Microsoft shop is
impressive.
I'm pretty excited about the product. I've administered a GoldMine CRM
system and it was painful. It was a kludge from the word "go".
Still, this is a 1.0 and it behaves like an beta, if not an alpha at
times. Alpha? (needing to force a replication of domain controllers in
the middle of a CRM Server install so that appropriate rights are
available for the installation of the SQL databases no matter which domain
controller the install program queries for rights to install the
databases)
I was pleased to receive my shiny new CRM Sales for Outlook CD today. At
least they're working on this product and trying to get it right. I think
they'll sell a lot of it as it is a natural extension to a lot of
environments. Let's just hope it doesn't take until 3.0 to get it right.
