Newbie question on installtion
Posted by Tony Josephs on September 7th, 2004

I have been in contact with a MBS reseller who says that the only real way
to install MS CRM1.2 is with the help of his company.

Does anyone with any moderate IT skill have experience of the ease of
installation of CRm on SBS2k3?

PS I have already printed the 60 page new "Chapter 15" is that all I need?

Cheers

Tony

Curt

thanks for your reply.

I have checked the prerequisites and I seem to have everything in place from
the new Chapter 15 - "Installing Microsoft CRM Server on Microsoft Windows
Small Business Server 2003".

I really want to know if I can install CRM myself from the instructions on
the CD or do I need the MBS VAR?

I went to your thread and await more info.

Cheers

Of course you can install it yourself.

Whether you *should* or not depends on many factors such as your own skills
and how you value your own time compared to the cost of what the VAR might
charge.

When taking into account your own time, are you prepared for running into
unforeseen problems? If the VAR is any good may have encountered these
before (or know about them) and can sort them quickly. A cursory glance at
this newsgroup might indicate that installing the system (with or without
instructions) is not straightforward and all sorts of problems can arise.

All depends if you have a day job to do as well for the next week or two
....

Curt

yes very good point. I have just been on the phone to an SBS MVP and he
agrees with you. So I'm off to purchase Virtual PC 2004 and do some test
installs just as you have suggested. I'll report back to the group on how
it went.

Cheers
