Newsletters in CRM
Posted by Mark Braithwaite on May 13th, 2008

Hi

We have not used the marketing module of CRM extensively. We are assisting a
client who would like to segment groups of customers and send newsletters to
a specific target group of customers.

We have suggested that the client create an email template in CRM, create an
Advanced Find view and send a direct email to those customers.

I would like to ask if any recommends a better way to do this. I have
noticed that we cannot insert email templates into Quick Campaings so the
Marketing List area is useless however this would be a nice feature to use.
We also cannot send direct emails from marketing lists.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to send newsletters from CRM?

Thanks very much

Hi,

A few of our clients are doing similar things. We have found that the CRM
emails are limited in what can be done. So we have done a word mail merge,
and at the end say merge to email. If you merge the word document as email to
HTML it can make some very nice emails. I would suggest doing some tests to
get your word document correct first.

There are a few down sides, it can be slow if you are sending to lots of
people, as word is send all the emails, also the sent emails are not in CRM,
and not sure if they can be tracked in CRM. If you are using CRM4, it will
put the correct history record of an email, and not a letter, but not sure
what history record you get with CRM3.

Hope this helps

Hi Rob

Thanks for getting back to me. I thought that ther possibly may be an easier
way. Guess I am going to have to do quite a bit of testing around Mail
Merge's. At least we can merge from a marketing list in CRM 4.0.

Thanks again
