Not able Install Outlook client via VPN.

In trying to install the CRM Sales Client s/w on a pc attached to my network
via vpn, I encounter an issue. During the install you are asked for the
location of the CRM server and asked to put in a URL and I enter
http://as03-nh which is the URL address used to access the CRM website. When
I do this, I get a message that the server running the CRM components could
not be found. This same pc doesn’t have any problem finding the CRM web
instance from a browser and can run the CRM via web without issue. I have
tried to have a drive mapped to the server drive where CRM is installed, I
have browsed and opened the shares where CRM resides, I have had the CRM
system open and been logged into the CRM in IE using http://as03-nh to get to
the website.

I don’t have this problem if I am installing the CRM Client on a pc which is
logged into my network/domain not using the vpn client. When connected via
vpn, we have no problem running the CRM system using webaccess, it is only
when we attempt to implement the “fat client” that we encounter this problem.
This is a critical issue for us, in that we have sales reps outside this
office who only connect to our network via the vpn and have to run the CRM
sales client.

Any immediate help is highly appreciated.

can you do an "NSLOOKUP crmservname" from the PC while connected to VPN and
see if the server is found ok?

If you are using Microsoft VPN, make sure to check the box include Windows
Domain Logon and then at the logon screen, make sure you type the domain CRM
is installed in.
