- Outlook client installation: "no instance of crm-server components found"
- Posted by marco di natale on December 16th, 2003
Hi all,
sorry if i am posting something old, but after some time spent to look
for info i found nothing.
I am trying to install the Outlook Client (MS CRM 1.2) on a laptop in
a system like this:
Server: Win server 2003; Domain Controller; Exchange Server 2000; SQL
Server 2000 + SP3; CRM Server.
Client: Win 2000 Pro + SP4; Office 2003;
During the setup process it's required to enter the server url.
After a 30 secs wait, an error message pops up saying that no instance
of crm server components was found on server.
This happens with two users i created on that laptop: 1) user in the
same domain (local admin and domain user) as the server and 2) user
local admin but not domain user.
To me looks like the installation program is not connecting properly
with the server, but I could not find a solution so far.
Has somebody alse experienced a similar problem?
Is there an article i could use as reference?
thanks in advance,
marco

Marco,
You need to make sure that the user that is logged in on the client pc
exists on the Server (same username). And the user must also have a
valid licence assigned to them and must be assigned to a group.
This solved the problem for me.
