Posted by Scroch on May 8th, 2008

Please help, how do I install and configure SQL 2005 WGE especially SRS on
SBS 2003R2 for CRM 4.0 WGE? I'm just not finding any detailed information on
SQL install/configuration. Please point me to any resources.

thanks!

It should be a case of putting the SQL Server install disc in, adding
the SRS component and then configuring SRS with the default options
with the configuration tool under the configuration sub-folder in the
Stat-Programs-SQL Server menu (when you have a screen with red crosses
and green ticks you know you're in the right spot). I generally run
SRS in its own app pool but that's about it. Also make sure you check
every setting. The config tool will sometimes give ticks for things
that aren't configured.

A few gotchas. Firstly, make sure if you do install the component, you
apply SP2 if the SQL Server has SP2 otherwise when you go to configure
SRS it will get obsessed with upgrading the SRS databases but will not
be able to do so. Also if the reporting server component is grayed out
when you go to install it, you may have the wrong version of SQL discs
or SRS is already on the machine. In the case of the latter, remove
and reinstall SRS, backing up your reports first.
