- Primary Contact & Parent Account & Contacts
- Posted by Nikolas on March 3rd, 2005
Hi folks,
I have the following problem:
1.) Create a new Account
2.) Create OR choose a Primary Contact
--> The Contact Name (lookup) is in the "Primary Contact" field at the
Account screen, but if I pull up the Contact screen for the Primary Contact,
it doesnt show me the "Parent Account" Name...
How can i fix that? I tried it with the mappings, without success.
--> And I'd like to see the Primary Contoct in the Contacts Tab from
Accounts as Well as at the Main Account Screen?

Hi Nikolas,
The Primary Contact on an Account does not have to be an Account Contact. I
don't know what the logic is behind this but it's the way CRM works.
I'd suggest when you create your Contacts you create them from the Contacts
tab on the Accounts dialog. This will automatically mark the Account as the
Parent Account of the Contact. You still have to manually select one of the
contacts created this way as the Primary Contact on the Account but this way
you will see the Contact on the Account Contacts tab.
Hope this helps,
Richie

Richie,
thanks for your answer. It is still wired in my opinion, and for my company
not suitable. The worst thing is that you cannot click on the parent account
information in the contact view. Only if the contact is a contact under
contacts...
