Can someone tell me about how references to the Primary Contact is stored in
the database?

Because the Primary Contact lookup field let's you lookup any contact, I
have users who have assigned people, who work for other accounts, as Primary
Contacts for the account they were viewing.

I need to find all the Primary Contacts, the account they are assigned to as
a primary, and then lookup the primary contact's parent account.
