- Problem Installing CRM 3.0 Client on Outlook 2007
- Posted by Crm trouble on July 27th, 2007
I have installed the offline client (tried both off & online) onto an XP Pro
machine with Outlook 2007. I didn't receive any errors on the install. But
now when I start up Outlook I get 2 errors, this is after it pops up with a
second window to log into CRM. The first error says there is a problem
communicating with the Crm server. The server might be unavailable. Try again
later.... The second is An error occured loading Microsoft CRM functionality.
Try restarting Outlook. I was wondering if anyone else had received this
problem and what they did to correct it.

Hi,
The problem seems to be with the server itself and IIS. When I get this
message I have to RDP to the server and restart IIS then it works fine.
I dont know if there are any fixes to this issue, I know there have been
many posts on here regarding it so maybe you could search. I have not had
time to try to fix the issue yet.
Regards

hello
check if you don't have to ping crm machine,
check if crm is working in ie
install version compatible with outlook 2007 and finally
install update rollup 2 to server and client
then say was it helpful

Just curious, is "Indexing Service" running on the affected machine?
If not, it should be, and it should also be set to start
automatically.

Have seen this many times, make sure you have added the URL of the CRM
server into the trusted sites in IE, and pop ups are not blocked.
Once done restart Outlook and it should now be functioning properly.
i hope that works for you. If not try like the above poster suggested
and make sure you can get a ping reply. One good test it to make sure
you can open the web interface.
Cheers
Ben

Thank you every one for you help. I have tried everything except for the
rollup 2. I should have been a little more specific. It looks like I forgot
to specify this with for the service provider edition and we have it working
for the on premise with outlook 2007. Indexing services are running, pop ups
are not being blocked, the site is added into the trusted sites and I am
still getting the message any more ideas?

Do you have new crm sales for outlook application?

Yes, I made sure it is the new SPE version that will be compatible with
Outlook 2007. I actually found that Microsoft has a hotfix for it. I d/l it
and installed and it failed. It required me to install another hotfix
(8925874) first. But now upon installing that, it almost installs correctly,
but then fails and gives met he message of: An unexpected internal error has
occurred. There are no errors in the event log or any log files that I can
find. Has anyone had troubles like this before? Any recommendations on which
way I should head now?

I had the same problem with Finnish version of Outlook 2007 + CRM 3.0 Desktop
client. All I had to do was to change IE settings to enable "Automatic logon
with current username and password" in User Authentication section->Logon in
IE security settings for the Internet zone. After that everything worked
smoothly.
I hope this helps,
Pekka
