- Products from different price lists in one order?
- Posted by Max on May 29th, 2005
Hi
Why the system allows me to enter produts from other price lists into
one order (quote, opportunity) when i have a specific price list
attached to it?
I dont really want products from a dealer's price list to be sold to
individuals. Is there a way to restrict this?
thank you

If you want a "dealer's" price list then you have to set that price list and
then link it into that product via the Product's "Price List Items"
Otherwise it will price at the "Default Price List"
Good luck.

Although you can browse the product catalogue I don't think you can add
it to the quote because It won't have a Unit to pick unless it has been
added as a price list item.
I created a Price list and added no products to it. Created a quote and
was able to browse the product list, and pick one, Now you have to
pick the Unit. Not able to find one on the list. That would be
because that product does not have a price list item entry. That
controlls the discount, units available, unit control etc.

We have several price lists - for different kind of customers
(individuals, corporate, non-commercial, resellers, etc.) with
differents prices, discounts etc. And some products exist in specific
price lists only (e.g. "reseller's bundle" goes only to resellers).
So, i thought the purpose for the field "Price list" in the Order form
is to restrict the product choice only to this specific pricelist. Like
if i link Order to the reseller's price list i'll be able to add
products only from it. But it actually allows me to choose all of the
products from all the of price lists.
Is it how it supposed to be? I'd like to restrict selling products for
corporate usage to individuals and vice versa.
thanks

The current version will list out ALL of the product for you to select under
Order >> Product. There is no option to only show just the product with the
same "Pricelist" as what you selected on the Order.

Max,
Give it a try. Yes you can Browse the Product List and it will show
it, and even add it on the product item. IT WILL NOT SAVE. Because
there is no unit to choose.. You will not be able to add it the the
Sales order unless it is added the that specific price list.
It is restricted! You can pick it off the list all day long. But you
can't complete an order for with a product that is not listed on the
price list as a price list item.
