Re: An error occurred installing Microsoft CRM folders
Posted by microsoft.com on March 3rd, 2004

I am getting this problem on a new XP machine with Office XP Pro and all
patches/service packs.

I had to un-install the Outlook client and re-install which is when the
problem started. It was working fine before.

For the un-install, I unstalled the client, SQL and then deleted the SQL
folders and checked for the existance of the mscrm.pst file.

Anyone have success solving this:

I just went to the length of uninstalling Outlook as
well as the CRM client and SQL and doing a full reinstall
of all three items. The outlook version is Outlook 2003.
After all of the reinstalls and reboots, same error. "An
error occurred installing Microsoft CRM folders".

Please check in the registry under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSCRM, whether a
DWORD entry for CassiniPort and a value of 2525 exists. If not, please
create it.

Ah! ha! this worked for me, at least I don't get the error message when
unloading and loading the Com Addin.

However, when I click on the MS CRM Folders in Outlook I get ther following
message displayed where I would expect to see CRM content:

Unable to display the folder.

Any clues?

Ok figured it out.
It has to be a String Value key not a DWORD.
Once I fixed this and closed and reopened Outlook all was working.

You are right! I entered DWORD instead of String by mistake.
