- Re: MSCRM Security Service Stopped after reboot and won't start again
- Posted by Kris on June 30th, 2003
We have recently setup a test enviroment for this and are
having similar problems. We tried the recommendation
below with now luck. As well as many of the other things
mentioned earlier in this thread.
When we try to start the service it gives us an error
1053. In the event log it says Event ID 7000 Service did
not respond to the start or control request in a timely
fashion. Any ideas?

All of my CRM services are started under the domain admin account. I think
that you're prompted in the installation process for the account to use, but
I think the IG guide said to use the domain admin acct.
Try to change the other services (but not the crystal services) to domain
admin. If you have problems still, maybe you could try a re-install using
the proper acct.
Good Luck,
BK

Also, make sure that the Domain Admin account had full permissions in SQL,
and SQL needs to run with mixed mode authentication.

Yes, the domain admin account has full permissions on sql
and sql is in mixed authentication. So I should be good
there.

Error - 'Failed to install Microsoft Customer Relationship MAnagement
Server. Failed to install MSI part of Microsoft CRM Server setup.
Unspecified error (80004005).' occurs when installing Microsoft CRM Server
Version 1.0.
Potential Cause
Site Server ILS is installed on the computer.
Resolution
If Site Server ILS is installed on the CRM Server, the Microsoft CRM
installation will still return an error even if the ILS service is only
disabled. Site Server ILS must be completely uninstalled.
The Site Server ILS service is used to publish IP multicast
conferences on the network. To confirm whether or not you have Site Server
ILS installed, please go to Start | Programs | Administrative Tools |
Services look for Site Server ILS in the list of services.

Unspecified error (80004005)" occurs during the installation of Microsoft

Resolution
Please verify if you have ghosted or imaged any of your servers. We
do not recommend ghosting servers. This error surfaces when more than one
server has been ghosted and the SID's have not been changed. SID's are
machine id's given to the machine when an image is placed on the computer.
If this SID is not changed from machine to machine then both machines will
appear as the same machine. We recommend building your servers from scratch
to prevent this from happening.

Thanks but still no luck.
It does not have ILS installed.
This is a fresh install of Win2k from disk. So no
ghosting issue here.
No dns problems. Double checked the list and everything
checks A'OK!
Any other Ideas?
We are thinking about formatting and installing from
scratch again tomorrow. Post anything up if you have any
more ideas. Thanks!!

I was told from microsoft that the security service isnt
going to start at boot up with sql installed on the same
box as crm.
- Posted by Matt Parks on July 17th, 2003
That is not true. You just need to re-register the security service so that
it is dependant on SQL server. The directions are in the IG.
