Actually, everything I've heard indicates that CRM 2005 will move the reporting
engine to SQL Reporting Services. At the time CRM came out, this was not an
option, so they had to go to market with a reporting solution and Crystal is
what they picked.

I've also heard an unofficial rumor that they plan to include a ODBC driver with
CRM that will allow you to use the reporting tool of your own choice and still
integrate the data level security that comes with the out-of-the-box reports. I
heard this a long time ago, so I have no idea if it's still on the list of CRM
2005 features or not.
