Relationship between a Custom Entity and an Activity?? (CRM 3.0)
Posted by simonsturzenegger on January 20th, 2006

Hi there,

I'm doing some customizations on our CRM 3.0 System.
I created a new custom entity called "distributioncosts" and would like to
create a relationship between that entity and the activity "appointment".

But there aren't any buttons "Create a new relationship".

Isn't it possible to create a relationships to an activity? Is there any way
to do this?

Thanks for your help!

Regards,

Simon

Simon,
Any custom entity can have a 1:M relationship with the standard
activities. Just check that box (one for Notes, one for activity) when
you are creating that new entity.

Once the entity is created, you should be able to add an activity for
it. HTH,
Dave

Thanks for your answer, Dave.

Unfortunately, that's not really what I want to have.
I want to have a lookup field on the Activity Entity, where I can choose an
Element of another custom entity, that I have created. (Hope you understand
:-))

I think this isn't possible, right?

Regards, Simon

Simon,
Sorry, you are correct, there is no way to set up a M:1 relationship
from your custom entity to Activities... (You can have many
activities tied to your custom entity, but not the other way around...)

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your affirmation :-(
I think I haven't got another chance, as to do it with a dropodown an
develop the workflow around it.

Thanks for your help!

Simon

Hi Simon,
Can you post this as a suggestion for Microsoft to implement in next
versions of MS CRM or it’s SP, HF, etc. I'll vote for this suggestion
immediately and think I will not the only one.

Thanks,
Anatoly.
