- Remove CRM tracking number from email subject field
- Posted by Larry Lentz [CRM MVP] on December 13th, 2006
Whether to track e-mail in CRM or not is a configurable item. If you choose
not to track e-mail, then the tracking code will not be inserted in the
subject. However, you will have to manually hit the 'Track in CRM' button in
Outlook to have an e-mail activity created in CRM.
To remove the tracking, in the web client go to Settings, Settings,
Organization Settings, System Settings

Thanks Larry
But I do wish to track all of the email - I just need the tracking number
held somewhere else besides in the subject field body of the message.
Makes the message look awful when sending outside the company - on internal
mail it doesn't matter.

You cannot change the location of the tracking token. You have three options
1 - use the tracking token in the subject line of an email and have emailed
automatically tracked
2 - Turn off the tracking token and have users manually track emails
3 - Build you own solution to track emails in CRM

The problem is how the other end returns the tracking token to you to
allow their message to be tracked. They probably won't include it if it's
in a header, and you can't guarantee they will quote the entire message
body...
