- removing 1.2 client, to install 3.0 client
- Posted by ND Wilder on December 5th, 2006
I am attempting to install CRM 3.0 offline-enabled client on a laptop. I have
discovered 1.2 desktop client had previously been installed under another
user, but could not find an uninstall link in add/remove programs. I removed
the MSCRM instance, removed the program directory and removed all relevant
entries in the registry.
Do I need to remove ANY and ALL entries, including those in the class
subsection.
Is there a MS KB article describing exactly how to do this?
I can get through to the part where I enter the web link to our server, and
then the next steps of error checking indicate that the 1.2 desktop client is
present and needs to be removed.
Thank you,
~Nathan~

Good luck.
This is a difficult task. You have to "eradicate" CRM 1.2 and previous
MSDE.
After deleting all references to MSSQL...CRM...everywhere.
Check out following link for a possible cause of installation problem:
http://www.mcse.ms/message1804597.html regarding A quick download and
install of the MDAC Consistency Checker revealed a missing .rll file.
Hope this helps,

If possible, login as the previous owner to uninstall the 1.2 desktop
client. Good luck!

Boolean1, that really is an understatement.
Nathan, I recently had a difficult laptop client "Extraction" and upon
installing the 3.0 client I still received the error message that the old
client was still installed under a previous profile. I did all the standard
and some non standard removal tricks.
So I tried something different. I made a copy of the previous users profile
and stored it off disk. Then I removed the profile and it's folder in
Documents and Settings. I rebooted and installed the CRM 3.0 client. It
worked.
As Boolean1 can attest too, I was releaved......!
