- Replace Account entity with Contact entity
- Posted by dwoo on March 7th, 2007
I would like to disable the account entity as all my customers are individual
person not a company. Is this possible? Or if it is not possible can I just
ignore the Account entity and what are the consequences of doing this?

Hi dwoo,
Contacts are independent entities and they can be created without any
associated account.
Most features that can be associated with an account can also be associated
with Contacts.. so I guess it may work without issues.

Sam

Yeah, that is what I think so too. Hopefully nothing would go wrong later.
I am only worry that there is some hidden relationship that I am not aware
off. Thanks very much.

Hi dwoo, AFAIK you should be able to use contacts without accounts. You may
also want to try removing permissions for accounts from all the security
roles. That way none of your users will see the accounts entity anywhere.
If you use contacts instead of accounts, you won't be able to use reports
like 'account summary' and 'account overview' to see the overall information
of the customer.
