After determining that our Syncing was not working, I've learned that
during the install of CRM 1.2 the Replication database (and the other
necessary components) did not get installed/created. Is there an easy
way to fix this?

We had the exact same problem. There is a script
available on the Customer Source site that creats and
populates the tables in the distrobution db.
