Replication on CRM database
Posted by Brian Mahloch on April 13th, 2004

Hello,

I have performed two installations of CRM, one in our testing enviornment
using sample data and msdn licensce key and the other in our production
environment with our professional license and no sample data. I noticed the
"test" installation has replication configured and an additional
distribution database. The "production" installation has neither, and the
installation said it was successful.

Is this right?

I am trying to track down an issue with the DMF, which installs successful
in "testing" and fails in "production".

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Brian

Brian,

When you install multiple CRM versions on the same Database, they actually share
the first Distribution database created. Are you sure the replication hasn't
been configured?

Yes I am sure. The installations were actually done on seperate database
servers. On the "production" database server no publications exist and
there is no CRM distribution database, as in the case of the "development"
database server. There is also no "publications" when view the Replication
object from within Enterprise Manager.

Well, you have 2 choices:

1) Reinstall. If you don't have anything put into it yet, this might be the
easiest.

2) Manually run the command to configure replication. The following
techknowledge article outlines how to do this:

I am going to try and manually create these since we are loaded with data.
One question, I can see the SQLRepl local domain group through AD Users and
Computers but it has not yet been added to SQL Server. How can I add this
group as it does not appear when choosing to add a windows login.

I figured out how to add it. Using the pre-windows 2000 name.
