ReportServer Problem (404 and File not found error) - Solution
Posted by Al on October 5th, 2006

During some recent changes to our servers I found that the ReportServer
functionality stopped working so that when I selected Reports within the CRM
system an error message was displayed asking me to contact the System
Administrator. In addition to this when I browsed to the virtual directory
housing the site I got a 'Page cannot be displayed' message. This also seemed
to affect the ability of the CRM system to display the System Settings page
as it displayed an error message again.

So after a little bit of investigation I have narrowed down the problem to
the fact that SharePoint had been installed on the same server as the
ReportServer AND there is a ReportServer bug.

To solve the problem I found the following articles;

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159697.aspx - Deploying Reporting
Services and Windows SharePoint Services Side-by-Side

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=922656 - Error message when you try to
open the Report Manager tool in SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services: "The
request failed with HTTP status 400: Bad request" Or "An attempt to connect
to the report server failed"

I have also come accross a third KB article which I did not require but may
be useful;

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916159/en-us - You cannot modify system
settings, add reports, download reports, or modify report properties in
Microsoft CRM
