Repost - Workflow Sender/Recipient

Didn't get any responses to this question? Does anyone know how to over come
this problem? Or how have other people handled this?

Question:
When a sales process (workflow) activity (Phone Call, Letter, ..) is
created, is there any way that the sender and recipient fields can be
pre-populated with values. Can the sender field be populated with owner or
logged in user's name and the recipient field be populated with the owner of
the opportunity? It is frustrating having to fill in this data each time a
system generated activity is created.
