- Role Permissions to allow Sending an Email for a Lead
- Posted by James Sanford on April 20th, 2006
I've been slowly locking down my users' access in CRM 3.0, and must have done
a very good job. They USED to be able to click send email and the email
would go out through CRM, and get logged.
Now, when they try to send an email, they get an error that they don't have
sufficient permissions to view this record or perform this action. I've
looked high and low, and can't figure out what role/security controls this.
Does anyone have any ideas?
thanks!

I suggest, please find the role of this user. For example, "salesperson".
Then, you need to check this role's setting,(about lead, append).
Usually, if the user is the owner of the lead, there should be no problem.
Otherwise, you should make sure your role setting allows this user to work on
the lead.

Have you found a solution to this? I have checked my users settings and she
has Organization rights to Leads, Contacts and Accounts. However when she
attempts to send an email, she receives an error that she does not have
adaquete permissions and that she can click Yes to send the email but it will
not appear in CRM. However, if she clicks Yes the email does appear in CRM.
Any Ideas?

Hi. Yes, we did solve this. Basically (and it's been a few months, so I'm
having a tough time remembering) I duplicated a current role, and called it a
new name. Then I systematically turned off various roles until I foudn the
one that was the culprit. Usually I'm pretty good about documenting those
experiments, but I can't find my notes and so I can't find which one it was.
