Sales For Outlook Update, Permission Denied
Posted by tonya@salamandertechnologies.com on January 3rd, 2005

I'm trying to install the Sales for Outlook 1.2 Enhancements on a
machine with XP SP2 installed. I'm getting a you don't have enough
permissions error. I've tried installing the patch as local machine
admin, domain admin and the domain user who needs the update. No luck
in any case.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

before you do the update I assume the user has a functioning outlook sfo
client in that they can go online and offline with no issues?

Actually, no the client can't go offline. I'm getting the error "An
unknown error occurred. Retry the action. If the problem persists,
contact your system administrator."

I followed the steps outlined below with no success (The snapshots
hadn't failed, but I went to the Deployment manager and reconfigured
the SQL server with no errors)

SYMPTOMS

"An unknown error has occurred. Retry the action. If the problem
persists, contact your system administrator." occurs when going offline
the first time in the Microsoft Customer Relationship Management Sales
for Outlook Client.

RESOLUTION

1. On the SQL server go to Enterprise Manager (Start | Programs | SQL |
Enterprise Manager).

2. Expand the SQL Server Group | Computer Name | Replication Monitor |
Publishers | Computer Name.

3. Select
CRMMetaPub-Organization_Name_METABASE:Organization_Name_METAB ASE.

4. In the right hand pane you should see Snapshot. Verify the status of
the agent. If the Status does not say Succeeded, right click on the
Snapshot and choose Start Agent.

5. Select CRMPub-Organization_Name_MSCRM:Organization_Name_MSCRM.

6. In the right hand pane you should see Snapshot. Verify the status of
the agent. If the Status does not say Succeeded, right click on the
Snapshot and choose Start Agent.

I also just completed following the instructions in article #872585 to
re-setup replication. That all worked properly and still I can't get
this client offline. Same error message "An unknown error has
occurred. Retry the action. If the problem
persists, contact your system administrator."
