Does anyone know the schema field that contains the sales process stages? I
am trying to fire off an event whenever the sales stage changes, but I don't
know the field that stores the stage.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nick, I believe it's salesstagecode or stepid in the opportunity table.
Don't know if these are exposed through the api.
