- Sales Process stages
- Posted by Stefan J on March 13th, 2006
I've created a sales process with some stages. The first stage consists of
three activities (tasks). I go through them and mark them as completed, but
the stage is not automatically changed to next stage; this is still greyed
out (locked) and not reachable. What's wrong? Even if I manually change the
stage, which I can do (even if this is not preferred), the activities in this
new stage is still locked. Please advice, thanks.

In the sales process in workflow you need to ensure it checks the conditions
of the activities after the 'Wait' clause of the sales stage. Make sure
that it checks when all the activities are closed and then it will move on
to the next stage.

Thanks Cozy, but the problem remains. I've set all conditions to completed
after the wait clause, but still, I don't get forward to the next stage. Is
it the button "Save as Completed" that confirms that I've completed the task,
or? Is there any configuration? User rights settings?
Still need some advices here, thanks.

Stefan
In the sales process you define what status the tasks need to be before it
will go to the next stage.
For instance 'Wait until Task A is Complete' or 'Wait until Task A is
Cancelled' or 'Wait Until task A is either'.
Based upon this criteria the workflow will decide whether to move the
process forward. So if you state in the Sales Process that Task A has to be
completed to move it forward but you close Task A as 'Cancelled' then it
will not move forward.
Check that you are closing the tasks with the status that the sales process
needs to move it on. (The button you mention automatically closes as
completed, but you can also choose Actions | Close Task from the toolbar and
pick a different status reason)

Thanks Cozy, I'm really happy for your help. Unfortunately, I've done all the
steps as you describe; make completed by button and action/close task and
100% sure that I have set the completed condition right...that's why I'm
thinking of some sort of system or user setting failure. Have you or anyone
recognized this?

Hi Manischa,
They are in status "Running" in the Log-tab and status "Waiting" in the
Process tab. If I take away the conditions (after the "wait" in the sales
process), the next stage is open, but I want of course to have those
"milestones" in the process...so there is something wrong here. I also tested
the "Solution Selling sales process example, but with same results.

a sales process, i.e. code, posted for us to reference? Thanks...Sean

Hi Sean, the Solution Selling Process is shipped with MSCRM.
Stephan - am I right in thinking that you are closing all the activities in
the first stage of solution selling process and still not proceeding to the
next stage?

Hi Manisha,
I've been trying to work with the sample SPI sales process. The Import
wizard summary was that the file imported successfully and no changes are
needed.
I have both administration and customization privileges.
When I open Workflow Manager, I can see a list of the entities and a
selection of viewing the rule or the rule template but no events are defined
in the views of any of the rules or templates. There is nothing to activate
and check in our test system.
Any idea how to work around this?
Thanks, Robert

select the opportunity object on the left in workflow manager and on the
right choose sales processes in the drop down and see if you see one listed

Hello Manisha,
Yes, that's correct.
I'd celebrate this forum to get solutions. Here is the one that saved me,
from another user (copied from another thread):
1. Go to Services in Administrative Tools in your CRM Server;
2. Check which user ("Log on as") starts "Microsoft CRM Workflow Service".
3. Now, go to Active Directory Users and Computers Management Console.
4. Check if the user (can be the administrator) who starts the "Microsoft
CRM Workflow Service" has the following privileges:
a. PrivUserGroup;
b. SQLAccessGroup;
5. Restart "Microsoft CRM Workflow Service".
