Searching Inactive Accounts/Contacts/Opportunities
Posted by Alan Whitehouse on January 14th, 2004

Hi,

If you inactivate an account, contact or opportunity and do a basic Find
those records do not appear in your results. Even if your dropdown is set
to "Inactive Account/Contact/Opportunity".

I know you can do this with Advanced Find. Anyway to do it with basic find?

Hi Alan,

no, it is not possible to do it in quick find (basic find).... because....

For each entity, there are is only one view that is searchable with the
Quick Find Query. For Accounts, it is the Active Accounts view. What this
means is if you are in the Disabled Accounts view, for example, and enter a
value in the Find Accounts field, you will not get any results returned.
You must first be in the Active Accounts view.

The following is a list of the views (across all entities) that are
available for use with the Quick Find Query:

-Active Accounts
-Active Contacts
-All Leads
-All Businesses
-All Users
-All Teams
-Active Cases
-Resolved Cases
-All Territories
-All Competitors
-Disabled Users
-All Roles
-All Queues
-All Activities
-Active Opportunities
-All Sales Literature
-All Views
-All Quotes
-All Unit Groups
-All Discount Lists
-All E-mail Templates
-All Products
-All Article Templates
-All Price Lists
-All Orders
-All Contracts
-All Invoices
-Related Contract Details
-All Salespersons

Note - This list is not editable, meaning you can neither add nor remove
views from this list. Furthermore, direct updates to any Microsoft SQL
Server CRM tables is strictly unsupported.

To search over any view, you can use the Tools | Advanced Find tool.

Hope this answers your question.

Have a nice day!
