Searching within records on MS CRM
Posted by Dan on November 21st, 2007

HI, we are just implementing MS CRM 3.0 and i have a questions about
searching. We run events so have created to entities Events and
delegates(who attend an event) WHat i need to know is when you are in
and event how can you search for a delegate.

When have 100's of events and thousands of delegates so as you can
probably tell it would not be possible to find a delegate through the
"look for" functionality straight on the delegate entity. I have
searched high and low and the only option i can see is the C360
product multi field search. Can anyone reccomend another technique/
product.......anything?

Thanks

You can use advnaced fin to look for delegates where the related event = xyz
- that should give you what you want I think?

The trouble with advanced fine is it is easy to use for an advanced
user but trying to train standard users is difficult. They see it as
far too many clicks to get to the information. What i am looking for
is away to query delegates from the event screen itself.

If you are in an entity and find the need to lookup to the other entity, have
you thought about creating a many to one relationship and exposing a lookup
field? If a many to one relationship is needed than there is a workaround in
3.0.

If the info is commonly requested from the other entity I would first think
relationship - am I on the right track?
