Security Issues?
Posted by Johan Nordström on May 28th, 2004

Hi,

I have located certain issues regarding the security
model in Microsoft CRM.
The problem is as follows:

We have created two seperate users who are implementing
two seperate Roles. The roles are set so that the users
only may see the accounts they created themself.
This works fine on user 2, but user 1 can see every
account available.

Is this a known issue?

Another problem i found this morning was that i created
to users within the same business unit with the same
role.
For one user the security settings worked, for the other
one it did'nt (All object in the entire system was
visible for user).
Is this some data sync. problem or something? Have
microsoft CRM messed up the ad or something?

Please advice.

Best Regards,
Johan Nordström

I don't know if this is the same as my problem or not...I
was wanting to set it up so that my customer service reps
could see everything in the system and my sales reps to
only see what was assinged to them or had their name on.
I figured out that I had to set up a team and add everyone
who I wanted to have the all views to that team. So, I
added all the CSRs to the team. This then automatically
gave the sales reps only the 'my view'.

Could it have something to do with sharing? When you
originally have an account assigned to user 1, if you
then (bulk) reassign to user 2, user 1 is
automatically 'shared', and can still see all of those
accounts.
