Sending Case Email Acknowledgement through workflow

There are some templates for sending Case Acknoeledgements which are fine as
starters - my question though is that I really need to send the email to the
responsible contact associated with a Case.

I can add the Responsible Contact field to the Case Form which works fine
but the email template doesnt seem to go to that person.

Any suggestions how to make this work?
