i have a requirement to share leads with distributors who need to receive
thsese leads pushed to them. they cannot be asked to go to a portal and pull
them down.

The simplest way to accomplish this is to export the leads to Excel, and
email them. If you need to do this much more frequently, you can consider
writing a workflow that could sent an email automatically.

I had this requirement too. I went into the workflow, and created a manual
rule, that the salesperson would run in order to pass a lead to his rep. I
created an email putting in all the lead information I wished to share into
it, made a couple more changes to the lead, to show that it had been passed
to a rep, added a note. The Salesperson would then run the rule which would
send him an email, he could then add his notes and comments and forward the
eamil to his rep.

Klunky, but it works.

Not to complain but it seems like every limitation MS put into the system
has come back to haunt me. If they are going to open it up for customization
they really need to open it up all the way up. I can create a custom entity
for reps, relate it to the lead, call a webservice to search and decide on
who the right rep is, and all of that is san-fran-tastic, but I can't use a
simple workflow to grab the reps email address and send to it and that's just
dumb.
