SQL Agent error on Installation
Posted by Gary on July 9th, 2003

Sorry to re-post but this is REALLY frustrating......

I'm trying to install CRM and getting stuck on the SQL server step. After I
select my SQL server (seperate W2K machine w/SP4, same AD domain, SQL has
SP3), I get this error: "SQL Server Agent must be running on the specified
SQL Server"

They are both on the same Active Directory domain and the SQL server runs
fine (Agent is running and gives no error). I've tried having the SQL server
and Agent services started by the domain administrator, and that didn't
change anything. I made sure the domain admin has a SQL login and full
rights. I've run dcdiag to check the domain and everything is fine. I've
checked the SQL logs and there are no errors. I've checked the SQL process
que and the CRM did indeed connect with it and this was the last command it
ran:

SELECT fulltextserviceproperty('IsFulltextInstalled')

What could possibly cause this error? Authentication problems? Service Pack
3 for SQL? I've been at this single issue for 2 days straight

any help would be greatly appreciated

thx,
Gary
