- user unable to see global email templates
- Posted by nb0512 on February 29th, 2008
Can a user in some business unit use email templates ('global' or
organization wide, entity related), even if these were made by someone in
another business unit ?
Our Account Managers (BU Sales) can view all email templates (except the
personal ones belonging to other users), but they can only use the ones made
by someone in their BU. When they do Actions/Add/Activty/Email/Insert
Templates/Regarding Object <select opp>/OK they should see the Global
Templates and the Opportunity templates, but they only see the ones of their
own BU, no global templates made by users of other BU's
Their Security Role allows them to do anything (green) with Opportunities
except Delete and Share and alows them to do anything with Email Templates
except create, delete and assign, which are BU restricted (half yellow)

For CRM 3.0, using a customizer account, go under Settings->business
Unit Settings->security roles, edit a role that is assigned to your
user. On the Core Records tab, locate the line "E-mail Template", and
under the share and read columns click the circle so that it is solid
green. This allows the role to read and use any email template in the
organization.

Hi,
I also had this issue in CRM 4.0 - try making sure that in the 'Business
Management' area of the security role you have full "read" rights on the
"Business Unit" - this seems to be having an impact on whether or not you are
able to see the global templates even through this is not very obvious ... !
Hope this helps!
Thanks,
Mary
