- Adaptec Easy Cd Burner

If this is not the right forum please instruct me as to which one is.
I have not used my cd burner in over a yr, It came with my compaq. This is
the error I am getting, and Adaptec is no longer supporting my version which
is 4.02
Cannot load CDR 4 - engine initialization failed.
Having said this I have spent most of the day d/l data/audio burners, none
of which I can get to work.
I am using WindowsME.

This could be a result of upgrading to WMP 9 on Windows ME. Take a look at
the following message from the Roxio message board. There is a fix listed
at the bottom of the post.

I'd recommend using the uninstall routine for DirectCD and ECDC before
deleting any of the registry entries or file folders that the post
identifies. After following the steps that are outlined, you'll need to
reinstall both applications, and then upgrade them to the latest version on
the Roxio site. It's 4.05 for ECDC and 3.05 for DirectCD. Check Roxio
support for the upgrades that are appropriate for your version.

Hi sue i had some trouble like yours a year ago and
managed to find all the updates i needed at the roxio
website they know own adaptec i think its www.roxio.com
just look around untill you find your version and follow
any links.
