- Annoying log-in window
- Posted by Elephant on March 5th, 2004
Just finished re-formating my HD.
But I can't get rid of that damn log in window
when starting windows. Have tried deleting the
PWL file and even checked the registry.
It just keeps coming back.
Any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You might find this KB article helpful:-
"How to Prevent a Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Me Logon Prompt at
Startup"
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;152104
When it comes to setting up again, then if you no longer want a password,
enter a name but do not enter any password at all, then click OK.
DO NOT "cancel".
HTH and good luck

Mart,
Thank you so much for the tip. It worked like a charm.
Turns out, the Primary Network Logon was set for "client"
instead of "windows logon". And that solved the problem.
Thanks again for the MS link.

Go to Network in control panel and change from microsoft
client for networks to windows logon.
