- Booting normally from Safe Mode
- Posted by Paul on July 15th, 2003
My Mother-in-law just called me and said that her Windows
ME computer is in safe mode, and can I help her to get it
out of that mode - can anyone help me help her? Huge
brownie points for me and even huger kharma points for
you!
Thanks,
Paul

Paul,
Sometimes it only looks like Safe Mode because the display settings have
defaulted. Does it say Safe Mode in the four corners. Right-click on the
Desktop and choose Properties and then Settings. Change the colors to 16 Bit
and the Resolution to 800x600 or 1024x768 ... or whatever looks normal to
you.

When in Safe Mode, Windows defaults to 640x480 16 colors and can not be changed.

And it will say Safe Mode in the four corners after closing the Help &
Support screen. If that's not the case, change the settings, it's not Safe
Mode, it only looks similar because something changed things to 16 colors
and 640x480.
