- Can't access data on CD for Family Tree Maker 10
- Posted by JOAN on January 9th, 2004
Since installing Windows ME I have not been able to call
up my genealogy info. I get a message saying it cannot
read the disc.

Does your CDROM drive work with other CDs? If so, there is something wrong
with the CD disk.
If it does not work with another other CD, then the problem lies with the CD
Drive.
Clean the head of the drive.
Reinstall the software driver. Boot to Safe Mode and delete all instances of
CDROM driver in Device Manager. Reboot and let Windows reinstall the driver.
If still no joy, the drive itself may be defective. Swap CD-ROM drive out
with a know good drive.
