character map symbol problem
Posted by Susan on August 15th, 2003

I installed the System Tools character map. However the
symbols and numbers on the character map do not correspond
to the symbols that are typed into a document. For example
0227 is supposed to be the copyright symbol according to
the map but is a funny looking a symbol-- I know it is
supposed to be 0169. Could someone please tell me where
the fix is?

Thanks,

Susan

Susan,
Check that you are using the same character set in the character map as that
in use in the document. For example Alt+0227 is the Copyright symbol in the
Symbol font whereas is it Alt+0169 in many others.

Thank you Mike. I did not realize that I had to choose the
font from that drop down menu. You were right! I had the
symbol selected.
